¡Hola!

Karim Trueblood is a nonfiction writer and educator exploring the intersection of law, sovereignty, the environment, and spirituality. Her work blends research and personal narrative to examine how systems shape lived experience in Indigenous and displaced communities, with a focus on decolonizing knowledge and making scholarship accessible to the people most impacted by it.

My Story

I am a nonfiction writer and educator drawn to the places where law, sovereignty, the environment, and spirituality meet. My own experience of displacement from Venezuela shaped my lifelong commitment to justice, belonging, and the dignity of communities affected by political, cultural, and environmental forces.

My work is grounded in years of research and collaboration in Indian Country and with refugees around the world. I write and teach to bridge understanding between policy and people, connecting complex legal and historical frameworks to lived experience and human resilience.

I hold a doctorate in interdisciplinary leadership, as well as graduate studies in emergency management, education, writing, and Ignatian tradition. My teaching includes writing and interreligious cooperation for peace, inviting students around the world to explore meaning, identity, and community through language.

I live in Arlington, Virginia, with my family — including a small herd of opinionated animals who remind me that humor and curiosity belong in every serious pursuit.
